Vengeancia (updated January 2014) My next open mic is probably gonna be in….. Nashville, TN? Perhaps not. We ran into a few snags this winter. The date, currently, is unknown. Perhaps Phoenix, Arizona. Here’s old info. about one of our open mics, Tuesday, JULY 5, 2011 at Smokin’ Joe’s. Here’s more about supporting M4F. Thanks to Voodoo Stingray, Brother Rob and Dan!
Old Info.: The restaurant and bar featured top of the line JBL concert sound, intelligent lighting with laser light show, and on-site multimedia & video presentations to lend special excitement to live on stage performances. Dan and Brother Rob will videotape your performance at your request. Dan performs on guitar, bass, and drums; there’s a couple of drummers around, too.
You can perform with a full band if you want to. I heard that Smokin’ Joe’s may have gone under; but you can probably find Rob and Dan at another restaurant in town. I’ll let you know where when I find out.
No open mic Wednesday June 8, 2011. CANCELLED DUE TO TOO MUCH RAIN Wednesday, May 11th at 942 Kalamath, Denver, CO.
Here’s a link to pictures from our April 14th event at Conari Arts Gallery.
Join fellow activists, poets, actors, comedians, artists, movie makers and creative people each week, beginning March 30, from 7 PM until 11 PM for a cozy gathering at various venues around town. We’ll have a PA with an open mic format hosted by Live Animal, aka Chad B., for all activists and performers! If you are an activist and would like to mention your upcoming events, distribute literature, speak briefly about your cause, etc., you are welcome to come and bring your friends.
Sometimes we hold events in art galleries. You are welcome to bring your own beer, wine, soda or other beverage; also, please bring a dish to share with everyone! This is an open mic for musicians, artists, entertainers and activists. If you are a visual artist, you’re welcome to bring materials to draw, paint, sculpt and create!
If you dance or otherwise entertain, c’mon out and perform with the gang! Feel free to bring your Tarot cards and divination tools as well as your gypsy soul. Bring your Bible. Bring your explorational self and an open mind. You are welcome to express yourself boldly and creatively no matter what your individual beliefs. Musicians 4 Freedom holds this weekly event as a platform for transpartisan, radical individualist and community dialogue.

We’ll be takin’ photographs and videotaping your performances. Please call Sharlene (Ven Geancia) for more info. about how to get your personal copy 720.298.1524. To sign up for the open mic and reserve a space, please call or text Chad B. – Live Animal – at 317.918.1715. We’ll allow the usual 3 songs or a 10-minute spot for announcements re: your upcoming activism events and activities. Here’s the type of song we love to hear! Sing your heart out!
In 2006, Mayor Hickenlooper’s task force on creative spaces found that:
“Despite its many clusters and large arts facilities, Denver lacks a node for producers of creative content to congregate, share, collaborate, network, and/or co-create. It also lacks a node for the dissemination of information to the general public.”
So, please come out in support of Musicians 4 Freedom’s efforts to unite the Denver activist community with its creative resources and people. We hope to see you soon!
