Statement by Jacques Diouf at the World Summit on Food Security
by Jacques Diouf
16 NOVEMBER 2009
One billion hungry people, that is one out of every group of six persons in the world, 105 million more than in 2008, five children dying every 30 seconds. Beyond the numbers, this means suffering for each of these human beings who is a loved child, mother, father, brother, sister, family relative, friend, neighbour.
This is our tragic achievement in these modern days when our technology allows us to travel to the moon and to space stations. It is sad to note that only when “food riots”, with deaths and injuries, broke out in 22 countries in all the continents during 2007 and 2008, threatening national government stability and global peace and security, that the issue of hunger became a serious concern. Unfortunately such interest seems to be waning as other issues are coming to the forefront of the international agenda, although all the heavy clouds that led to the previous crisis are again accumulating in the skies.
Obama Plays the al-Qaeda Card in Shanghai – November 16, 2009
November 16, 2009
In preparation for a massive troop escalation in Afghanistan, Obama told Chinese students at a town hall meeting in Shanghai on Monday al-Qaeda remains an ominous threat. “I continue to believe that the greatest threat to the United States’ security are the terrorist networks like al-Qaeda,” Obama said. “They have now moved over the border of Afghanistan and are in Pakistan, but they continue to have networks with other extremist organizations in that region and I do believe it is important for us to stabilize Afghanistan.”

20 Minutes with the President Video Contest – November 16, 2009
November 16, 2009
On Sunday evening Alex extended Charlie Sheen’s 20 Minutes with the President video contest. Below are the entries that came in under the wire before the deadline expired at midnight.
This week Charlie Sheen will decide the first place winner of the contest and Alex will pick the second and third place winners. After the final decisions are made, the winning video producers will be contacted.
Charlie, Alex, and Infowars would like to thank all the contributors who participated. The objective of the contest is to get Charlie Sheen’s message — expressed as a conversation with president Obama — on the internet and have it go viral: the American people deserve another investigation into the events surrounding 9/11.
Climate change is not man-made – November 15, 2009
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Last updated at 11:33 PM on 14th November 2009
More than half the population does not believe climate change has been caused by humans.
In a poll published just weeks before the global climate change summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, it has been revealed only 41% of British people accept as a scientific fact that the situation is largely man-made.
The Populus research shows while 28% believed climate change was “far and away” the most serious problem facing Britain and another 51% agreed it was a serious concern, many remained unconvinced of the role humans played.
Gore’s climate change presentation draws protest – November 15, 2009
By GEORGE BENNETT
Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
Updated: 9:27 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009
BOCA RATON — Confused Palm Beach County voters helped thwart Al Gore’s 2000 bid to become president of the United States, but he was introduced as “president of the planet” when he returned here Saturday night to deliver an environmental lecture.
The former vice president spoke on climate change at the Mizner Park Amphitheater to a crowd of about 800. More than 200 protesters gathered across the street from the event, and their boos and chants could be heard inside the amphitheater as Gore began his presentation.
Gore lost Florida, and the White House, by 537 votes to George W. Bush in a 2000 as many Palm Beach County Democrats said they mistakenly voted for conservative Pat Buchanan because they were confused by the county’s “butterfly ballot” design.
India’s Central Bank Buys 200 Tons of Gold – November 9, 2009
WEDNESDAY, 04 NOVEMBER 2009
In yet another sign of eroding international confidence in the U.S. dollar, India’s central bank has just purchased 200 tons of gold from the International Monetary Fund at $1,045.00 an ounce, in a transaction valued at close to $7 billion. Nor were Indian officials at all coy about their motives. As one senior official at the Indian central bank told the Wall Street Journal, “It makes sense to buy gold as it will appreciate more than the U.S. dollar.”
Put otherwise, the Indian government, alarmed at the dollar’s fall against gold, is now restructuring its investment portfolio to prepare for a world in which the U.S. dollar is no longer the dominant currency. The IMF is reputedly preparing to sell another 200 tons of gold in the near future to China, another government worried about the eroding value of its dollar-denominated assets.
News of this sort is bound to take a further toll on the dollar, even as the fiscal policies of the U.S. government and the Federal Reserve suggest that America is determined to print her way out of the current economic crisis. The collapse of the dollar would not only wreak economic and social havoc at home, but would provide political cover for the long-awaited institution of a truly global currency issued by an international authority.
FORT HOOD SHOOTER INFORMATION NOT ADDING UP – November 6, 2009
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2009
What happened Thursday November 5, 2009 was a tragedy. Gunman Major Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly snapped and went on a shooting rampage at Fort Hood in Texas, killing at least 12 and injuring 31 others. The information coming in has been conflicting and at times wildly contradictory. Some of this is the result of the newness of the tragedy. But through nonstop coverege the media has begun to flesh out a good deal of the story, and yet a careful examination of just some of the more widely stated information shows there are troubling and conflicting problems with the MSM and government’s version of what happened.
This is starting to have the earmarks and anatomy of a disinformation pych ops story.

Chinese authorities have put a whole town in quarantine after an outbreak of horrifying pneumonic plague.

Carbon traders deny sub-prime crisis brewing – November 5, 2009
November 5, 2009
The environmental charity said not only does the current system of trading permits fail to tackle climate change, it is also financially dangerous. Currently only Europe has an emissions trading scheme, where companies can buy and sell permits giving them the right to pollute the atmosphere with carbon dioxide.
IBM Knew About Flu Pandemic in 2006 – November 2, 2009
November 2, 2009
A document has surfaced revealing IBM was aware of the current H1N1 “pandemic” in 2006. Excerpts from “Services & Global Procurement pan IOT Europe, Pandemic Plan Overview,” an official inter-departmental document distributed to upper-level management of IBM in France during 2006 are posted on the Prevent Disease website. The document predicts a 100% chance of a “planned” pandemic occurring within five years.
The document provides more evidence IBM and other large corporations are on the inside track in relation to the manufactured and orchestrated pandemic now unfolding. As Infowars and Prison Planet continue to document, the H1N1 virus is a bioweapon designed to frighten the public and stampede millions of people around the world into taking a vaccine that is a soft kill and eugenics weapon.
In addition, the contrived pandemic is a tool designed to implement martial law and increase government control over populations. The IBM document describes “quarantines”and operational procedures to be taken upon official announcement of the engineered pandemic by the World Health Organization.
Is Osama bin Laden Responsible for the 9/11 Attacks? – November 2, 2009
November 2, 2009
The idea that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the 9/11 attacks has been an article of faith for public officials and the mainstream media. Calling it an “article of faith” points to two features of this idea. On the one hand, no one in these circles publicly challenges this idea.
On the other hand, as I pointed out at length in two of my books – 9/11 Contradictions1 and The New Pearl Harbor Revisited, no good evidence has ever been publicly presented to support it.
Colin Powell’s Withdrawn Promise Two weeks after 9/11, Secretary of State Colin Powell, speaking to Tim Russert on Meet the Press, said that he expected “in the near future . . . to put out . . . a document that will describe quite clearly the evidence that we have linking [bin Laden] to this attack.”
Powell reversed himself, however, at a press conference with President Bush in the White House Rose Garden the next morning, saying that, although the government had information that left no question of bin Laden’s responsibility, “most of it is classified.”4 According to Seymour Hersh, citing officials from both the CIA and the Department of Justice, the real reason for the reversal was a “lack of solid information.”5
This was the week that Bush, after demanding that the Taliban turn over bin Laden, refused their request for evidence that bin Laden had been behind the attacks.6 A senior Taliban official, after the US attack on Afghanistan had begun, said: “We have asked for proof of Osama’s involvement, but they have refused. Why?”7 Hersh’s answer was that they had no proof.
Obama signs hate crimes bill – October 29, 2009
WASHINGTON (JTA) — President Obama signed legislation expanding federal involvement in prosecuting hate crimes.
The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act would expand the federal definition of hate crimes to include those motivated by gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability. It also will allow federal authorities to pursue hate-crimes cases when local authorities are either unable or unwilling to do so.
“We must stand against crimes that are meant not only to break bones, but to break spirits — not only to inflict harm, but to instill fear,” Obama said at a White House reception Wednesday commemorating the signing of the bill, which he signed earlier in the day as part of the $680 billion defense authorization bill.
“Because no one in America should ever be afraid to walk down the street holding the hands of the person they love,” he said. “No one in America should be forced to look over their shoulder because of who they are or because they live with a disability.”
Obama also noted that advocates had been working to pass the bill for more than 12 years. A number of Jewish groups, led by the Anti-Defamation League, had pushed the measure.
ADL national director Abraham Foxman said it was a “monumental achievement and a great day for America” as he joined with civil rights leaders and members of Congress at the White House ceremony.
Arab MKs revive Temple Mt. dig claims – October 28, 2009
Updated Oct 8, 2009 9:15
By ABE SELIG AND JERUSALEM POST STAFF
In the wake of the recent clashes between Arabs and security forces in Jerusalem and the restricted access to the Temple Mount, Balad leader Dr. Jamal Zahalka said Wednesday that Israel was “trying to change the status quo [in the capital] by creating new facts on the ground.”
Arab leaders slam government, claim Israel digging under site.
Speaking to Army Radio, Zahalka asserted that recent conspiracy theories may not be unfounded, speculating that Israel was possibly “planning to build a synagogue” on the Temple Mount. He explained that while Al Aksa Mosque had stood on the Temple Mount for 1,400 years, Israeli excavations underneath it could endanger several Old City mosques “in the event of an earthquake.”
Zahalka requested international supervision of Israeli excavations in the area, adding that he was alarmed by what he termed the “transition” of right-wing extremism “from the margins of Israeli society to its political mainstream.”
Earlier on Wednesday, a delegation from the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee, as well as Arab MKs, toured Jerusalem’s Aksa mosque. Jerusalem police were informed of the visit in advance.
Obama Declares Swine Flu Emergency – October 28, 2009
October 24th, 2009 12:16 PM ET
President Obama declared a national emergency Saturday to deal with the “rapid increase in illness” from the H1N1 influenza virus.
The move allows the Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius “to temporarily waive or modify certain requirements” in order to help health care facilities enact emergency plans to deal with the “pandemic.”
Those requirements are contained in the Medicare, Medicaid, and state Children’s Health Insurance programs, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy rule.
“The 2009 H1N1 pandemic continues to evolve. The rates of illness continue to rise rapidly within many communities across the nation, and the potential exists for the pandemic to overburden health care resources in some localities,” Obama said in a statement.
“Thus, in recognition of the continuing progression of the pandemic, and in further preparation as a nation, we are taking additional steps to facilitate our response.”
