In addition, a companion video for the tune debuted Wednesday and has been posted at the two aforementioned websites and on YouTube. The clip artistically shares details about the plight of Manning — who’s been confined for 17 months without a trial date being set — and includes disturbing and graphic images of injured Iraqi civilians. The video’s premiere coincides with a pre-trial hearing for Manning, which is scheduled for this Friday. The Manning Support Network has declared this Saturday, Manning’s 24th birthday, to be an International Day of Solidarity for the accused whistle blower.
“Almost Gone” was co-written by Nash and David Crosby‘s son James Raymond, who plays keyboards for Crosby & Nash. The tune was composed during the duo’s spring U.S. tour. Check out the song’s lyrics here.
