Editor’s Note: Here’s a link to pictures from a past event. Here’s a link to current open mic information.

We’re holding the next open mic and potluck at Conari Arts on March 14th instead of at the CACI as in previous weeks. To sign up for the open mike and reserve a space, please call or text Chad – Live Animal – at 317.918.1715. We’ll allow the usual 3 songs or a 10-minute spot for activists, poets, spoken word, comedians, etc.

The theme of your selections should have something to do with bein’ the change we want to see in the world; it could also be observing problems and proposing solutions. Topics that would be appropriate to the problem category, for example, include chemtrails, secret societies, police brutality, advancing tyranny, outa control globalists, GMO food, fiat currency and the Fed, 9/11 equals inside job, egotistical & controlling people, etc. Use your imagination! It’s hard to figure what might be off the table, and it’s truly unfortunate that there are so many to choose from, huh?

Topics that could be appropriate to the solutions category, for example, include decriminalization, decentralization, local iniatives, renewable energy, organically-grown food, urban homesteading, alternative currencies, gold, silver, etc. bartering, and the ever-popular golden rule. Musically, you can cover classics by our folk and rock heros Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Woodie Guthrie, Rush, Rage Against the Machine, etc.; or, you can debut your original creations! Be bold, be creative! Be positive! Be hopeful! As long as we are talkin’ about how we perceive the world, and have respect for how others perceive the world, there’s hope.

If you’re a musician but new to activism, you may want to start out by covering some great contemporary political songs from Jordan Page; he has a new CD, Liberty, with lots of future hits for modern music-minded revolutionaries.

If you are an activist, don’t hesitate to bring a fold-up table and your business cards, brochures, etc. for your activist-oriented events, crafts, think tanks, barter networks, etc. Bring your CDs and DVDs to promote, too. You are welcome to network with others and solicit SUGGESTED DONATIONS at the event, but please, let’s not actually SELL anything! I don’t like to give the banksters any more business than we have to! Thanks!

If you have an interest in volunteering to help with clean up, security, etc., please call me, Vengeancia, at 720.298.1524. Thank you!
