Editor’s Note: I’m glad to see my friend and M4F September 2010 Featured Activist, Jeff Peckman, quoting Madison below. There’s hope for Denver!

Extra Campaign Greetings, My name is Jeff Peckman and I am a candidate for Mayor of Denver. Here is something about my life’s journey up to now. I was born in Kansas and grew up in Denver. At about age 10, I decided to develop my full human potential and seek solutions to problems at every level of human life, from individual to global. At age 11, my fellow students elected me President of the Student Council at Goldrick Elementary School in Denver. Since then I have had the great fortune to get acquainted with many extraordinary human beings who have made a positive impact on humanity. Their solutions have inspired me.

My campaign for Mayor of Denver will focus on sharing many of those solutions with you — Denver voters. This will help you be better informed and empowered to make better choices to improve your life and your community. It will give you a refreshing new point of reference. We have to think big and aim high for Denver to progress and prosper at this historic time.

Most importantly, I will listen carefully to your concerns and solutions because you are Denver’s greatest resource. No other candidate for Denver Mayor is offering such a comprehensive list of proven solutions and strategies. I am prepared and qualified to help Denver rise to a higher quality of life than ever before. This includes an economic “Renaissance” for unprecedented prosperity and job creation.

It might look weird to see the photo of a hydrogen blast on a campaign web site. But this photo was taken March 1, 1954, my birthday.  That is the same day the U.S. exploded its largest hydrogen bomb (Castle Bravo) in its history, even to this day.

My campaign for Mayor of Denver is designed to create an explosion of new ideas and shockwaves of new energy. It will radiate the light of knowledge about proven solutions to vaporize doubts people have about being able to rise above Denver’s problems. And it will incinerate lame excuses that have been used at all levels of government that have lead to failing education, high crime, poor health, a polluted environment, and an underperforming economy.

“There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come”. My campaign will be powered by many ideas whose time has come.

I look forward to meeting you and working together to raise Denver to new heights of peaceful, healthy, and prosperous co-existence.

Sincerely,

Jeff Peckman

Why I am running for Mayor

“That’s it! That’s all I can stands. I can’t stands it no more!” – Popeye

I had a “Popeye moment” when listening to President Obama’s “Sputnik moment” remark in his State of the Union Address January 25, 2011. He talked a lot about innovation and competitiveness. But he never mentioned the Global Competitiveness Forum that ended in Saudi Arabia the same day as his SOTU speech. The significance of that missed opportunity is explained in the article “Doctor prescribes truth from Obama on UFOs for innovation and competitiveness”

What I can offer as Mayor of Denver
Here are a few brief examples of what I can offer as Mayor of Denver. I challenge every other mayoral candidate to provide a better list of cost-effective, proven, and affordable solutions to help make Denver better than it has ever been. More inspiring and exciting details about the solutions below will be posted by Feb. 17:

1. Public Safety – This is the first responsibility of any Mayor. Programs and strategies of unprecedented success in criminal justice already exist. They have greatly reduced crime and successfully rehabilitated criminals. One forensic technology that I introduced to law enforcement in Colorado has been viewed as the future of criminal justice in helping to solve crimes, including cold cases.

These strategies are also cost-saving measures. They are easily and immediately affordable within Denver’s existing budget. Unfortunately, these have not been employed in Denver to date. [Read more after February 17.]

2. Education – There is no real lack of resources for quality education and no excuse for failing education. Schools and colleges around the U.S. and the world have found affordable and innovative ways to inspire students to almost miraculous levels of achievement. It is crucial that proven strategies are used to reduce the stress level of students and develop their brain functioning. This will give them a proven advantage in learning and academic achievement in an atmosphere virtually free of bullying and drugs.  Here’s one person’s comment about the achievement of CIDA college in South Africa:

“WOW! Even after an 18-hour flight to the US, I am still high on CIDA! It was one of the best days of my life! I can’t wait to begin to tell the world about the miracle in Johannesburg called CIDA. CIDA gives me a completely new optimism for Africa. And WOW!!!!!” - Tom Peters, author of Circle of Innovation and In Search of Excellence.

3. Jobs – There are abundant opportunities for economic development and job creation. [More details will be posted after Feb. 17]:

Clean energy – Denver can become the “silicon valley” and safe haven for inventors, manufacturers, and marketers of clean energy technologies that go beyond even wind and solar. This includes technologies that can reduce pollution from water, air, and soil, as well as reduce electromagnetic pollution. A safe haven is needed to prevent disruption and outright theft, by government agencies, of advanced clean energy technologies that could eliminate the use of fossil and nuclear energy.

Construction – Denver can become the capital of sustainable building technologies and materials, not only for use in Denver, but for export to other cities, states, and countries.

Film industry – Denver can attract more of the multi-billion dollar film industry. But at a minimum, we need to be known as a more creative and open-minded community.

Health care – Denver can expand neighborhood-based complementary and alternative health care resources. This includes collaboration with medical marijuana dispensaries to establish Denver as a leader in cultivating, processing, and distributing products derived from thousands of medicinal plants known in traditional health care systems throughout the world.

Space travel – Denver can explore and negotiate for the next “spaceport” to be built in Denver. The first one is under construction in New Mexico for Virgin Galactic. NASA has not cornered the market in this area. It is as wide open as the universe itself.

4. City budget – As Mayor of Denver, I would invite careful scrutiny of the alleged “$100 million budget shortfall”. There is evidence of suspicious and unethical behavior and incompetence within the Denver Budget Management Office. I would also bring attention to the vast and almost unimaginable amount of fraud, waste, and lack of proper accounting related to billions of Federal tax dollars from Denver tax-payers. Let’s expose this scandal and bring the money closer to home.

5. Medical Marijuana – Dispensaries and growers of medical marijuana have been the subject of a lot of controversy and proposed regulation. They came into being as a means to reduce extreme suffering of those with intolerable pain and debilitating if not terminal diseases.  I have two views on this:

a. The MMJ dispensaries should be treated with respect and welcomed at least as much as pharmacies and certainly better than liquor stores. We should give adequate attention to access and enforcement of regulations to ensure those who are prescribed MMJ as a medicine are not burdened more than they already are.

MMJ dispensaries open up a vast opportunity for Denver to leap ahead of all other major cities as the capital of medicinal plant cultivation and use. These plants number in the thousands among traditional forms of health care, as is found in China and India. This could become an exponentially bigger engine for the economy and job creation than what MMJ dispensaries currently offer. Denver can also  ”grow” a diverse, hemp-based economic engine with thousands of diverse products as proposed by Henry Ford in the 1930′s.
Read:  “The Weed that Can Save the World.”

b. The proliferation of MMJ dispensaries prompts the question, “Why are so many people in so much pain?” As Mayor, I would form a task force to explore what other proven health care modalities can prevent or cure these terrible diseases. I would include a review into reports of activities at any level of government and industry that are causing some of these diseases. I would also include an investigation into reports that the U.S. Government has deliberately withheld from the public, effective and affordable treatments for cures to cancer, AIDS, and other serious diseases and disorders.

6. Transparency – This means that citizens should get more than just the ability to “see through” lies and deception from elected and appointed public officials. It means citizens should be told the truth by those they elect. As Mayor, I would call for more real transparency and honest truth, as promised by President Obama’s administration. I will speak out on issues like bank bailouts and the Federal Reserve, 9/11 and Building #7; GMOs, chemtrails and HAARP, and also  ‘UFOs’ and extraterrestrial visitors.

“The People, are the only legitimate fountain of power…” – James Madison, Federalist Papers

We cannot “do big things”, as President Obama has urged us to do, unless we know big truths and face big realities.

If our elected public servants will not be honest and transparent about these issues, then We the People will go over their heads. In that scenario these so-called “leaders” will become increasingly irrelevant, impotent, and unworthy of our trust.
