Crafts For A Cause: Musicians And Celebs Auction Items For Haiti

The Huff Post The Indie music and young celebrity communities are making another contribution to Haiti relief, auctioning off possessions, clothing and more for Crafts For A Cause. All proceeds from the auction go to benefit Artists for Peace And justice, an organization founded by Oscar-winning writer Paul Haggis that aims to promote social justice for those living in poverty. Since the earthquake hit off the coast of Haiti in January, Artists for Peace and Justice has dedicated the organization to serving Haiti’s poorest neighborhoods.

Among the items available for auction: an original painting by Devendra Banhart, a guitar signed by Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear (the guitar that was given to him on his 15th birthday), a film camera signed and decorated by Drew Barrymore, a t-shirt signed by M. Ward, and a pair of Natalie Portman’s ballet slippers, signed by the actress. See a few images of available knick-knacks from Pitchfork.

The auction was initiated by Binki Shapiro of the band Little Joy (named after the Echo Park bar of the same name).
